Here is a carbine that if you traded it for your first born you will have gotten the better side of the deal. Lock the doors and make sure your wife is going to be gone for 20 minutes or so before you watch this.

Boxing As A Combat Training Skill

Training for combat is a long arduous process but if you don’t get exposure to a bunch of stuff out there you will never reach your maximum potential on the battlefield. I think boxing could be one of the best skills for Tactical Athletes. We spend tons of money trying to find a less than lethal means of subduing the enemy. Often you need intel or he doesn’t rise to the threat level that requires fatal force, so you need a new tool to incapacitate the bad guys. Obviously punching terrorists in the face isn’t always the right answer, but when it is make sure you got that tool in the box. I put together a super basic crash course in boxing while wearing kit, I am going to link it to this post. Also keep in mind if you decide that boxing is going to be a go-to tool in your arsenal I would highly suggest getting Read the rest of this entry

Embrace the Suck

Combat Training in the MudThe following is by a very well known Ranger/ Green Beret who asked to be kept anonymous but ,who I can assure you if you have spent more than 5 minutes in the industry you have work by, with or through this guy; he is a huge icon in the community. The second nutrition section is also by an expert in the field who must be kept anonymous also these two guys are like the Stig in Top Gear. The fundamentals of pistol shooting are numbered differently by different instructors so here is a quick run down of the fundamentals. Besides the basic I would like to talk about some of the common misconceptions as well as some tips and tricks.

Stance should provide you with a stable and adaptable foundation from which you can accurately engage targets. About 20 years ago the stance of choice was a bladed “weaver” stance that presented as small a target to the enemy as possible. Now that all the ground pounders and even police wear protective armor it seems as though the isosceles stance has come back into fashion. I feel strongly about a forward leaning aggressive isosceles stance that allows for good recoil managment as well as protection behind the trauma plate. For me a strong aggressive stance will help the operator drive the weapon system better Read the rest of this entry

What is Full Spectrum Combat Training?

As the drive for the next generation of soldier pushes into the new century the capabilities of the individual are being optimized to new levels. On the modern battlefield a soldier (I say soldier using a generic term, of course I include sailors and Marines in this term) is asked to contend with a great deal of stimulus. The latest iteration of battle rifles have lasers, holographic sights, large capacity magazines and any number of other gadget they are able to fit to the rail system. The vehicles have blue force tracking, sat communications; I remember being out on missions and my commander was sending text messages via FBCB2. The armor is heavier than at any time in history and for some ungodly reason we decide to go to war in the hottest, crappiest places on Earth. Your attention is constantly being pulled all over the battlefield, so if your combat training doesn’t make your reactions reflexive, it needs to. Read the rest of this entry
